Dyes & Pigments Industry Round Up (7/4/14 to 12/4/14)

Dyes industry is badly affected from its major usage industry which is textile because of raw material issues. Industry analysts said that at present time industry players are focusing on expansion plans so that it will not hamper the material availability in the market. They said that this market is estimated to grow due to increasing standard of living, growing demand from a wide range of industries such as coatings, construction, and inks.

In future, the consumption for dyes is predictable to pour due to the higher demand for reactive dyes in cotton-based fabrics and disperse dyes in polyester fabrics. The dyestuff sector is one of the important segments of the chemicals industry in the country, having forward and backward linkages with a variety of sectors like textiles, paper, leather, printing inks, plastics and foodstuffs.

Industry viewers said that with growing production technology and strong downstream customer base is likely to boost the demand of dyes and pigments in the country. The industry has witnessed export opportunities, subsequent to the shutting-down of several facilities in the United States and Europe, due to enforcement of strict pollution-control regulations.

This industry is moving with slower pace currently due to instability of raw material prices in Indian market as told by the industry sources. Industry players said that manufacturers are predictable to experience maximum utilization during the next two years. One of research report said that the global demand for dyes and pigments is forecast to reach 11 million metric tons by 2018 and India and China are the leading producers and consumers of dyes.
