Ethylene factory in Egypt to start petchem exports

A new ethylene factory is set start production in Alexandria and will help Egypt save $500 million on yearly imports and allow it to export petrochemicals to Western Europe and Africa.
The plant is a joint venture formed by three state-run petrochemical firms and is being operated by Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (Ethydco).

Its production capacity will cover nearly 45 per cent of local demand for ethylene and other petrochemicals. The plant will start production in the last quarter of 2015
