Anti dumping duty extended on imports of Caustic Soda from Chinese Taipei

Indian finance ministry has extended its existing one year anti dumping on imports of caustic soda from Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). The existing anti-dumping duty - imposed in August 2011-was to lapse on August 23 this year. The petition seeking continuation of antidumping duty on caustic soda imports from Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) was filed by Alkali Manufacturers Association along with 3 major producers--DCW Ltd, Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Ltd and Grasim Industries Ltd.

Caustic soda is used in the manufacture of pulp and paper, newsprint, viscose yarn and staple fibre, aluminium, cotton, textiles, toilet and laundry soaps, detergents, dyestuffs, drugs and pharmaceuticals, vanaspati, petroleum refining etc.
