A new research done in preschool and daycare centre shows hazardous flame retardant chemicals can pose health risk to toddlers. According to the analysts, the chemical flame retardant are mostly used in resins, textiles and plastics sector and is a composite that is added to manufacture these materials. Day to day, toddlers at preschools and day care centers are exposed to potentially dangerous flame retardant chemicals.

From around 40 such child care centre in Monterey and Alameda countries which server nearly 1700 kids, few researchers have taken the samples of dust and have also tested air for flame retardants both with and without Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers. However the study done by the researchers had found both PBDEs and tris phosphate compounds in 100% of the dust samples that was collected from the day care centres.

Moreover in the State of California which is located on the West Coast of the United States US had banned the use of two types of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) which is a composite used as a flame retardant in the year 2006, with the rising health concerns. The chemical flame retardant which was earlier used in furniture and after the ban in the year 2006 by the California State, most of the furniture makers had swapped over to the compounds that integrated chlorinated-tris that also worked as a flame retardant.

However, through earlier researches done by the researchers already confirmed prevalent presence of chlorinated-tris and PBDEs in the residential settings. Moreover, tested air and samples of dust that were taken by the researchers have found to be contained reckonable levels of chlorinated-tris and PBDEs compounds.

According to the analysts, in recent years the studies have hoisted some serious anxiety regarding the harmful collisions of flame retardant that comes in contact on early childhood development, which can result in hormonal disruptions, neurological impairments and less of IQ.

According to the sources, to stop and diminish the use of known perilous chemicals and flame retardants the State California is really working hard on it, especially in daycare centers. And owing to the lack of oversight the efforts of the state have been hard.
