The Indian sector will be getting its new policies being finalized by the Indian government in near future. The highlight of the policy is to boost textile exports. The policy aims to achieve $300 billion textile exports by 2024-25and foresees creation of further 35 million jobs.

The Textiles Ministry has set up an expert committee headed by Ajay Shankar, member secretary, national manufacturing competitiveness council for review and revamp the textile policy2000. "The expert committee has since submitted a draft vision, strategy and action plan. The new National Textiles Policy, is currently under finalization," Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

The new policy intends to address adequate skilled workforce, labour reforms, attract more investments and provide a bright future road map for the textile and clothing industry.
