Polyester industry has a tough competition from natural fibers industry like cotton yarn industry. Last year the industry faced tough competition from natural segment. However this year experts believe that this industry will experience a growth of 5to 7 percent in the fiscal year of 2015-2016. Unlike dependency on season by cotton industry, Polyester industry operates throughout the year. Round the year if economy performs well, then industry can experience better growth and future prospects.

Industry has been depending on imports of PTA and MEG. Imposition of anti-dumping duty on PTA has been hard hit to the polyester industry of India. This has been a major blow to the polyester manufacturing industry. However in last few weeks there has been considerable lowering of international prices for MEG and PTA. In respect of floating of crude values in the range of $50-60/bbl the manufacturers are anticipating for better and stable growth.
