Published on September 16, 2014

Saudi Arabia should increase its gas output in order to support its petrochemical expansion and meet the rising demand for energy.

Natural gas consumption in Saudi is expected to double by 2030 from 3.5 trillion cubic feet per year in 2011.

Saudi Arabia will have to strike a balance between domestic consumption and petrochemical production and provide gas for both.

Their gas reserves stood at 288.4 trillion standard cubic feet as of end-2013 and annual production reached 4.0 trillion standard cubic feet. Its gas production per day stands at 11bn standard cubic feet.
