Asia naphtha spread to remain tight

Published on April 18, 2014

Asia naphtha inter-month spread is likely to remain firm primarily due to the tight supply of naphtha as the demand for the material is increasing.

There has also been a decline in naphtha exports from India. Refinery maintenance in the countryhave led to reduced output.

The naphtha spot premiums were at double-digit levels. The inter-month naphtha spread between the first half of June and that of July was said to be at 17 dollars per tonne.

Arbitrage naphtha exports from the West are expected to be 1 million tonnes in April and 1.1 million tonnes in May.
