Published on January 28, 2015

Asia’s naphtha price for front-month first-half March over first-half April increased for the fourth consecutive session to reach USD3.50/ton, the highest premium between two months in 5 ½ months as supplies tightened.

Demand from Taiwan and South Korea has helped give the market a much needed boost. Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd. witnessed a rise in sales premiums- they sold 35,000 tons of naphtha for February 12-14. In China, naphtha imports for 2014 hit a record high of nearly 3.7 mln tons.

South Korea was the top exporter of naphtha to China, while exports from Russia, Saudi Arabia, India and the United States have all increased from 2013.
