11 companies submit proposals for urea capacity expansion

The Fertilizer Ministry has received proposals from 11 companies regarding expansion of urea capacity. Private firms like Indo-Gulf Fertilizers Ltd, Chambal Fertilizers, Kanpur Fertilizers, NagarjunaFertlizers and Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd have submitted proposals for expansion or revamp of their fertiliser plants.

Four PSUs, namely GNFC, GSFC, RCF and FACT have also applied under the new urea investment policy.
Out of these 11 applications, eight are for brownfield expansion, two for greenfield and one for overhaul of an existing project.

The New Investment Policy (NIP) informed that the interested private firms should provide Bank Guarantee of Rs 300 crore for each project. The PSUs have been exempted from it.
