Iran based Zargos Petrochemcial Company has shut down its methanol plants last week. The reason behind this shut down has been due to acute supply of natural gas, the feedstock for methanaol producing plants. The no. 1 plant has the operating capacity of 1.65 mln mt/year and no.2 plant has the operating capacity of 3.3 mln mt/year. Every year this situation arises as the the Iranian government diverts the supply of natural gas for domestic consumption due to extreme cold wehther conditions.
