UCC Shchekinoazot started methanol and ammonia coproduction plant in Russia

United Chemical Co. Shchekinoazot (UCC Shchekinoazot) has started a methanol and ammonia coproduction plant in Russia’s Tula region.

Company has entered service in early September, as per information the plant will  produce methanol around 450,000 tonnes/year and 135,000 tpy of ammonia with the use of  Haldor Topsoe AS’s proprietary Integrated Methanol and Ammonia Production (IMAP) technology.

It is the first coproduction plant in the world to produce more methanol than ammonia report said.
 This is the third unit under license by Haldor Topsoe at UCC Shchekinoazot’s operations, which include a first methanol plant with a production capacity of 450,000 tpy started up in 2011.

Alongside the early September inauguration of the methanol-ammonia unit, UCC Shchekinoazot also broke ground on a third methanol production plant at the site.

 

Also under license by Haldor Topsoe, this third methanol plant will have a methanol production capacity of 500,000 tpy. The third methanol plant is scheduled for startup in second-quarter 2022, UCC Shchekinoazot said.
